A plain-language explanation of how Retire Chat handles your information.
Last updated September 29, 2026
What you provide
Retire Chat processes the questions and financial information you enter to produce projections and explanations. This may include ages, income, assets, spending, assumptions, and scenario choices. You do not need to connect a bank or brokerage account. Avoid entering account numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or other unnecessary sensitive identifiers.
Sign-in and saved information
You can explore without signing in. Google sign-in supplies an identity token and may supply your name and email. Retire Chat uses the verified identity to associate saved household and assumption records with you in AWS DynamoDB. While signed in, household and assumption changes are saved automatically. Anonymous use still sends requests to our backend and applicable AI providers; it is not offline processing.
AI-assisted understanding and explanations
Depending on configuration, Retire Chat uses OpenAI or Anthropic to interpret questions and explain results. Requests may include your message and relevant structured financial inputs or calculated results. General educational answers omit the structured personal-plan facts, but anything you type in the question itself is still sent. These providers process requests under their own policies and the service configuration. We do not promise zero retention or a particular training treatment.
Browser storage and analytics
The browser stores your Retire Chat sign-in token/profile and panel-size preferences locally. A question carried from this page to chat is temporarily stored in session storage, then consumed; it is not placed in a URL. When configured, PostHog provides usage analytics, including page views and interaction information, and may use browser storage or cookies. Shared snapshot pages do not initialize our PostHog integration. Browser storage and analytics settings can be managed in your browser.
Shared analyses
Sharing creates a separate, saved snapshot. Anyone with its link can view it without signing in, so review the contents before sharing. Later edits to your plan do not change that snapshot. You can revoke links, and expired or revoked links are no longer served. Expiration is not a guarantee of immediate physical deletion from storage. Household deletion should not be treated as revocation of shared links; manage those links separately.
Updating, signing out, and deletion
You can update your information in the app and use Delete saved profile to remove the saved household record. The current deletion control does not remove saved assumptions or independently stored shared snapshots. Logout clears active user context and Retire Chat session storage, but does not delete saved server-side records or sign you out of Google on other sites. For requests concerning other stored information, email Rahul. We do not claim an automatic retention period or deletion schedule for all operational or provider records.
Questions and changes
This notice describes the current application behavior and may change as Retire Chat evolves. If you have questions about your information or want to request deletion beyond the available controls, contact [email protected]. Do not include sensitive financial identifiers in your email.
